Christmas in Kansas City, Missouri

I am back from Christmas celebrations in Kansas City. For those of you who are not familiar with the US geography (and apparently I was not), the capital of Kansas hapens to be in Missouri! To be more accurate, there are in fact two “Kansas City”, one in Kansas and one in Missouri, and what is generally referred to as Kansas City is actually the metropolitan area which is split between the two states.

Politically correct America has almost abolished the term “Merry Christmas” to replace it with a non-religious “Happy Holiday”. When you live in a ethnically mixed city like Los Angeles, it makes a lot of sense - I spent the last two Christmas almost forgetting about the holiday. But when you are in Kansas City on December 25th, there is no doubt that this is Christmas. I took this photo from my hotel downtown as, as you can see, there is not one car in the streets… Everybody was at home with their family.

Happy Holiday and Merry Christmas to you wherever you are.
