I am blogging live from the Roosevelt Hotel in New York where the CASRO Technology conference takes place.
Chetan Dube from IPSoft presented a paper called “the Machines are coming” describing the need to automate processes to achieve productivity gains. “The technology is best managed by technology”. He also insisted on the need for integrated framework to avoid the dissemination of information in an organization.
David Auser from GfK explains how the consolidation in the industry (GfK acquired a lot of companies recently, including NOP recently) enables them to invest in IT resources. He explained for example how they worked on using their server capacities more efficiently. Another example is how online reporting tools replace the traditional Powerpoint presentations.
About outsourcing in China or India, Chetan aknowledges the quality and cost efficient of the IT labour force in China, but highlights the language problem (English is a quasi official language in India) for a smooth transition in back-office services.
